ものしり【物知り】

〔博識〕 a vast stock of information; an extensive knowledge; 〔人〕 a well-informed [knowledgeable] person; a person of wide information [extensive knowledge]; an informed mind; an erudite person; (生き字引) a walking dictionary.

●物知り顔に with a knowing [wise] look; knowingly; sagely; 《口》 with a know-it-all attitude

・物知りである have [be possessed of] a vast stock of information; be well [widely] informed

・物知りぶる pretend to be knowledgeable [know a lot]

・物知りぶる人 a wiseacre; a know-(it-)all.

●あの子供の物知りには大人も顔負けだ. That child knows so much [is so knowledgeable] that he puts adults to shame.

●彼は大変な物知りだ. He is a mine [store] of information.
